They did the same thing in 2010. They were reported as saying "While we don’t think it will save the houses, it will have brightened up people’s lives in some small way. We turned a derelict street into an open-air gallery."Alan Carrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03884098195110970012noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7299674604783597208.post-994691681835548342012-08-25T14:53:13.473+01:002012-08-25T14:53:13.473+01:00Update on Welsh Streets - see Liverpool Daily Post...Update on Welsh Streets - see Liverpool Daily Post link that outlines plans to save a few houses in Madryn Street and Kelvin Grove. so, it looks like most of the Welsh Streets will be demolished! http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/2012/08/25/public-get-first-glimpes-of-plans-for-150-new-homes-in-liverpool-s-welsh-streets-100252-31694577/Alan Carrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03884098195110970012noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7299674604783597208.post-91620892443177763702012-08-07T20:13:17.781+01:002012-08-07T20:13:17.781+01:00thanks for your comments John. It disguises that fact that you are taking the photo (no one takes any notice of people using mobiles) so the candid element is preserved. Sadly, I don't have one!Alan Carrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03884098195110970012noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7299674604783597208.post-68826575970344361272012-08-07T17:26:13.685+01:002012-08-07T17:26:13.685+01:00I agree with the problem of photographing children...I agree with the problem of photographing children at play in public spaces. We are losing a valuable source of social history. Take, for example, the two boys riding their bikes in Jamaica Street if you had asked permission then the spontenaity would have disappeared. I think, sometimes, we have to take the photograph - with the caveat that the photograph does not demean the individuals and it is not offensive. The photograph of the boys, considering it is a hip one off shot, works. The composition with the overpowering building shadowing the boys works. The lighting falling across the subject in almost half shadow is so effective.<br />Thanks, you are continuing thed tradition of social photograhy.John Ellisnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7299674604783597208.post-567913459373527242012-05-18T11:52:33.732+01:002012-05-18T11:52:33.732+01:00No longer under wraps - The Florrie reopened in Ap...No longer under wraps - The Florrie reopened in April (2012). Old warehouses and docks are so interesting and - if you can get anywhere near - great photo subjects.
